- Many people are slaves to their whims and desires and are not true slaves of Allaah. They say that they are slaves of Allaah, but when they are tested they turn on their heels and lose out in this world and in the Hereafter, and that is an evident loss.
- And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know." (Al-Baqarah, 216)
- Following some lengthy deliberations, the Quraysh reached a decisive decision to take measures deemed to stop the tidal wave of Islam through different channels. They were determined to spare no effort, in combatting the new faith. They decided to malign the Messenger of Allāh and put the new converts to different sorts of torture using all available resources. However the Sahahba remained steadfast. In their example is a lesson for us today.
- All of us know the story of Ibrahim's sacrifice and we say that it was a test by Allah (ta'ala). But do we really understand what Ibrahim went through ? Do we appreciate what it was like to be Ibrahim ? Can we grasp in thought what happened ? Why is it that we regard Ibrahim as the father of faith ? What was it that he achieved ?
- Victory and defeat, gains and losses, and successes and setbacks are not decided by money, resources, numbers or skills. Rather, they are decided by the balance of obedience and disobedience of Allah The Exalted. The more we obey Allah, both individually and collectively, the more we hasten His Victory. The more we disobey Allah, the more we delay the arrival of His Victory.
- The believer is not one who performs the ordained religious duties
superficially and avoids what is forbidden only, but he is one whose faith
is absolute, with no objection whatsoever arising in his heart and no
obsession dwelling in his soul. The more hardships he faces, the more his
faith grows and the more his submission strengthens
- The Straight Path is the path of Allah which He has put in place to lead mankind to Him; there is no path to Him other than this one which He appointed upon the tongues of His Messengers.
- Allah, Glorious and Most High, has made patience a race horse that never falters or stumbles, a sword that never loses its sharpness, a vanquishing army that is never defeated, and a fortified stronghold that never breaks and is never taken by force. Patience and divine help are two blood brothers,
- Verily, along with every hardship is relief, verily, along with hardship is relief. So when you have finished (your occupation), devote yourself for Allaahs worship. And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes. (94:5-8)
- Consequently, let a prudent person who cares about his well-being see to which class he belongs. Let him not be influenced by habits or ruled by laziness.
- Fellow Muslims! It is part of a Muslims magnanimity, nobility and good manners to always seek for and surrender to the truth out of desire for the pleasure of Allāh and out of fear of falling into the abyss of arrogance.
Allāh says,
That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the pious. (Al-Qasas 28:83)
