All Praise is for Allah alone. He is the Rabb of all that exists.
Surely, we send the highest Salah and Salam upon the Final Prophet, the
leader of the pious and upon his family, companions and those who follow
their example with Ih’san till the Day of Reckoning.

Amma Ba‘du:

One of the greatest hurdles confronting Muslims today is a lack of
knowledge about certain essential beliefs that we as Muslims must
unwaveringly adhere to. Of the most pertinent issues facing Muslims
living in localities that are heavily influenced by western culture is
how we view ‘Issa bin Marium -Jesus the Son of Mary – ‘alihi as-Salaam
(AS).

On a cyclical basis we are confronted with different “religious”
occasions that are marked by our Christian neighbours, coworkers and
acquaintances. It is paramount that we as Muslims have a firm
understanding of what he – ‘Issa (AS) represents to us as Muslims.
Whether it is Easter Monday or Christmas day, we as Muslims should know
what Islam says about the issues that are presented to us on a regular
basis.

This four part series will attempt to expound upon the basic knowledge
that Muslims may already have. It will also seek to introduce evidences
from the Nobel Quran and the Pure Sunnah with regards to issues that may
not have been discussed in detail before. There are four main issues
regarding ‘Issa bin Marium (AS) that we as Muslims must have knowledge
of.

    1. The Muslim Nation is more Worthy of ‘Issa than all the other
      nations.

  • Who was Marium? And the Truth about the Immaculate Conception and
    the Birth of ‘Isaa (AS).

  • The Life and Near Death of ‘Issa (AS).

  • The Inevitable Return of ‘Issa to Slay the Dajjal (One-eyed liar or
the Anti-Christ) and Lead the Muslim Nation.

We will attempt to deal with each of these four points – continuing here
with Part four – in a knowledge-based manner. The opinions expressed
will be those that are held by the majority of the Scholars of Islam.
The weaker opinions or those that do not have an evidentiary basis will
not be discussed unless to show their inaccuracy or incorrectness. In
discussing this issue we will only turn to the verified sources of
authenticity. We will only narrate that which is accepted as true and
verified by the Muslim scholars of past and present. We will not look
into sources that do not have an Islamic basis. A Muslim writes this
discussion for Muslims, from exclusively Islamic scholarly sources. To
debate these issues from others sources (Bible) is a wholly separate
discussion that has no place here.

The Inevitable Return of ‘Issa to Slay the Dajjal (One-eyed liar or the
Anti-Christ) and Lead the Muslim Nation

Allah (SWT) says:

“But Allah raised him (Rafa‘ahu) up (‘Issa’s body and soul together)
unto Himself. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise.

And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians),
but must believe in him (eventually believe that ‘Issa was only a
Messenger of Allah and a mere mortal lacking divinity), before his
death. Before his death has two interpretations according to the
opinions of the scholars. Some state that before ‘Issa’s (AS) death
after he descends from the heavens all will come to know of the truth of
his matter. The others contend that before a Jew or a Christian’s death
as they are passing into the next life, they will realize that ‘Issa
(AS) was a Messenger of Allah with no divinity. Both interpretations are
valid. Before the descent of ‘Issa (AS) from the heavens the second
opinion is most proper and accepted.

And on the Day of Resurrection, he (‘Issa) will be a witness against
them (those who died in disbelief).” An-Nisa 4:159

Abu Huraira (RA) reports that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“By Him in Whose Hand my soul is (Allah), surely (‘Issa) the Son of
Marium shall descend amongst you (Muslims) and will judge mankind
justly, by the law of the Quran (as a just ruler). He (AS) will break
the cross and exterminate swine and there will be not accept the Jizya
(a tax imposed on non-Muslims who keep their religion rather than enter
into Islam). Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it
(from another). (During this time) a single prostration to Allah will be
better than the whole world and what is in it.” Abu Huriara (RA) added:
“If you wish, you can recite (this previously mentioned verse from
An-Nisa 4:159). Reported by Bukhari.

This hadeeth is a fitting introduction to our fourth and final part of
our series discussing ‘Issa bin Marium (AS).

We previously learned that ‘Issa (AS) was not murdered. Rather Allah
(SWT) saved him and raised him unto Himself (SWT).

Immediately after informing us that He (SWT) saved ‘Issa (AS), Allah
confirms to us that he will make ‘Issa a sign to the People of the
Scriptures. It is an indirect promise that he (AS) will return once
again to live and eventually die in this worldly life. This indirect
promise becomes explicitly clear from the preceding Saheeh hadeeth. In
fact, we will soon learn that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) Prophesied in many
narrations the advent and descent of ‘Issa (AS).

Let us now look towards the future, rather than the past, as we have
been doing. All of what has been discussed is from the matters of Ghaib
(unseen and unknown). It makes no difference if the events have
transpired or if we await them. Since our sources are only and solely
from the authentic textual evidences (Quran and Sunnah) we feel
confident and have certainty in the narrations of the past and
prophecies of the future.

We therefore begin by analyzing four main points:

    1. The Wisdom behind the Advent of ‘Issa (AS).

  • Ad-Dajjal: The Greatest Calamity to befall mankind.

  • The Descent of ‘Issa (AS).

  • Life after the Descent of ‘Issa.

Some may ask, “Why? Why did Allah (SWT) Will all of this to happen?”

The simple, concise answer is found in Suratil Anbiya’ (21:23). Allah
(SWT) says:

“He cannot be questioned as to what He does, while they will be
questioned (about what they do).” Al-Anbiya’ (21:23).

The Divine wisdom is not subject to questioning or rationalization. The
ability to logically rationalize and grasp concepts is not the standard
to be used when discussing matters of Ghaib (Unseen) and Qada’ and Qadar
(preordainment and Predestination).

In fact, if we were to use the logic and rational of those who pre-dated
us by a mere one hundred years, we would join them in belying the claim
that man will take to the skies. We certainly would never accept the
notion that man would reach the moon. Rational and logical acceptance is
very relative and subjective. It is highly biased by ones personal
experiences and socialization. As such, there are still many people
living today who would not be able to rationalize the fact that man has
reached the moon.

As well, there are those who have the ability to think critically and
rationalize many complicated concepts yet they defend illogical and
sinful practices. A brain surgeon who believes in the validity of
sanctifying his home and office with cow urine and dung because of his
illogical belief in Hinduism is less logical and rational than an
illiterate Bedouin who submits himself to the One true Rabb.

The Wisdom behind the Advent of ‘Issa (AS)

So when we speak of the wisdom behind the advent of ‘Issa (AS), it is
what we (the scholars) of Islam have determined as being some of the
outcomes of the Return of ‘Issa (AS) and not the Divine Wisdom of the
matter itself. Only Allah (SWT) encompasses that knowledge. Allah (SWT)
reminds us in Surati TaHa (20:110):

“He (Allah) knows what happens to them (His Creatures) in this world,
and what will happen to them (in the Hereafter), and they will never
compass anything of His Knowledge.” TaHa (20:110)

The scholars have shown that the descent of ‘Issa (AS) will fulfill a
great many purposes.

    • He (AS) will dispel the claim that he was crucified and murdered. He
will be living proof that those who claimed his death are and were
      in misguidance.

  • He (AS) will be a source of clear proof that he was not God, or the
Son of God, or that God is a Trinity. He will dispel their
fabrications and vanquish their deviant claims.

  • He (AS) will state and make known that Muhammad (SAAW) was Rasool ul
    Allah.

  • He (AS) will bring an end to the reign of the Dajjal and his
    legions.

  • He (AS) will lead the Muslim nation during the great tribulation of
Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (Gog and Magog).

  • He (AS) will be of the final signs that the Day of Judgment is at
    hand.

Those are a few of the outcomes from the advent of ‘Issa (AS). This is
not an exhaustive list, but it covers the main points that the scholars
have agree upon.

Ad-Dajjal: The Greatest Calamity to befall mankind

The descent of ‘Issa (AS) will be a world changing event. ‘Issa (AS)
will descend to save humanity from disbelief and the Dajjal (the caller
to disbelief during that period in time). It is important to set the
setting of the descent of ‘Issa (AS) to fully appreciate the importance
of this great event. As you have by now become accustomed, we will only
discuss the matters of Ghaib from the authentically proven sources. From
here on in, our words will be a premium used solely to guide us through
the numerous verses and hadeeth that are to follow.

To begin understanding who this person is, it is important to focus on a
few main points:

    • Deciphering the meaning of his name

  • Life before his emergence

  • What does the Dajjal look like?

  • What powers will Allah give the Dajjal as a Fitnah for Mankind?

Deciphering the meaning of his name

Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) named him: Al-Maseeh ad-Dajjal

Ibn al-Atheer in Jami‘ al-Usool (4/204) states:

“The Dajjal was
described as Maseeh (extinguished, wiped out) because one of his eyes is
extinguished or put out. Al-Maseeh denotes that one side of the face is
wiped out (disfigured). It is associated with those missing an eye and
an eyebrow (on one side of their face).”

He later goes on to show the linguistic difference between al-Maseeh
(Messiah) ‘Issa bin Marium (AS) and al-Maseeh ad-Dajjal. He states that:

“The word al-Maseeh for al-Dajjal is used to denote an act that is acted
upon HIM (meaning that the Dajjal had HIS eye wiped out), while
al-Maseeh for ‘Issa (AS) is used to denote an act that HE (AS) performs
on OTHERS. This name was given to ‘Issa because he would wipe over
(Yamsaah) the afflicted and Allah would give them health.”

The word Dajjal according to ibn al-Atheer (rh) means a liar.

Ibn Hajr (rh) in Fath ul Bari (Vol. 11/ pg. 91) takes it a step further
and thus clarifies it more by saying:

“(He is named) ad-Dajjal because
he covers up truth with his falsehood.”

Others state that the Dajjal covers up truth with lies.

All can agree that the al-Maseeh ad-Dajjal can be described as the
one-eyed liar.

Life before his emergence

The Muslim Ummah will regain its strength. The weakness that we see
today will disappear. It will return to its former splendor. That means
that the Muslim Ummah will return to Allah and be His obedient slaves
and thus earn Divine Victory. All of this is promised to us by Rasool ul
Allah (SAAW). One of these inspiring and Prophesying hadeeth is reported
by An-Nu‘man bin Basheer (ra).

He (RA) reports that Hudhaifa (ra) reported that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW)
said:

“Prophethood shall remain with you as long as Allah Wills it. Then it
shall be raised by Allah (His death SAAW) when He Wills to raise it.

Then Khilafah upon the Manhaj (methodology and way of) Prophethood shall
remain with you as long as Allah Wills it. Then it shall be raised by
Allah when He Wills to raise it.

Then their shall be kingship (inherited generation after generation)
which shall remain with you as long as Allah Wills it. Then it shall be
raised by Allah when He Wills to raise it.

Then there shall be tyrannical governing which shall remain with you as
long as Allah Wills it. Then it shall be raised by Allah when He Wills
to raise it.

Then there shall be Khilafah (once again) upon the Manhaj of
Prophethood. Then he remained silent (meaning the end of time).”

The hadeeth is Saheeh and is reported by Imam Ahmed and others (See
detailed discussions in my upcoming translation of two of Sh. Saleem bin
‘Eid al-Hilali’s books: 1. The Clear Evidence: Explaining the Manhaj of
the Salaf, and, 2. Why I have chosen the Manhaj of the Salaf.

We see that the oppressive situation that which we reside in shall
surely be alleviated by Allah. The Ummah will regain its strength near
the end of time. In the midst of the Muslims strength and power the
Dajjal shall emerge.

Abi Ummamah (ra) reports that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“O Mankind! Surely there will be no greater Fitnah (trial, tribulation,
Calamity) on the face of the Earth from the day Adam (AS) was sent down
(till end of time) that is more in magnitude than the Fitnah of the
Dajjal. Verily, Allah ‘Azz wa Jal has not sent a Prophet to a people
(except that that Prophet would) warn his Ummah of the Dajjal. Surely, I
(SAAW) am the final Prophet, and you are the last Ummah. He shall surely
emerge in your midst, no doubt about it.

Preceding the emergence of the Dajjal there shall be three harsh years.
Mankind will be afflicted with severe hunger. The first of those years
Allah shall order the skies to withhold a third of the normal amount of
rain. (As well) Allah shall order the earth to withhold a third of the
normal amount of vegetation. During the second of those years Allah
shall order the skies to withhold another third of the normal amount of
rain. (As well) Allah shall order the earth to withhold another third of
the normal amount of vegetation. In the final year (before the Dajjal
emerges) Allah shall order the skies to withhold all their rain. It will
be such that not a single drop of rain descends. (As well) Allah shall
order the earth to withhold all of its vegetation. It will be such that
no vegetation will be present.”

Some (of the Sahaaba RA) said:

“What will sustain the people during
those days?” He (SAAW) replied, “Tahleel (la illah illa Allah), Takbeer
(Allahu Akbar), and at-Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah) shall be their
nourishment when food is not found.”

Reported by Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzaimah and al-Hakim. It is deemed
authentic by ash-Shaykh al-Albani (rh) in Saheeh al-Jami‘.

Therefore it is pertinent that we recognize who this individual is so
that his lies and treachery do not deceive us. The Dajjal will be given
special powers, as you will soon see that will alleviate drought and
hunger. Therefore, only the truly faithful shall maintain their
steadfastness and belief in Allah.

What does the Dajjal look like?

‘Imran bin Haseen (RA) reports that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“The one who hears of the Dajjal (emerging), let him flee from him. By
Allah a man may come to (face) him thinking that he is strong in faith,
(but fall victim to his powers) and follow him due to the doubt building
powers (begin to doubt Allah is the Lord and believe in Dajjal) that he
will be sent with.”

Reported by Abi Dawoud with a Saheeh chain of
narration.

So how can we recognize the Dajjal? Is he a human being and what does he
look like?

‘Ubaada bin al-Saamit (RA) reports that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“Al-Maseeh ad-Dajjal is a short, bow legged man. He has curly hair and
is one-eyed. One of his eyes is extinguished. If you are not sure
whether it is him or not then know that your Lord is not one-eyed and
that you can never look upon your Lord (in the Worldly life).”

Reported by Abi Dawoud and Imam Ahmed with a Saheeh chain of narration.
It is deemed authentic by Sh. Al-Albani (rh) in Saheeh al-Jami‘.

In another authentic (saheeh) hadeeth, Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) is
reported to have said:

“He (the Dajjal) is a white man with reddish complexion. He is obese and
has curly thick hair. His right eye is useless (to him) and appears to
resemble a grape. (Reported by Al-Bukhari)

Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) also described the Dajjal by saying:

The Dajjal has a green eye (his good left eye is green in colour).”

Reported by Imam Ahmed and Abu Nu‘aim and it is authenticated by Sh.

Al-Albani in as-Silsilah.

Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) also described him as is narrated by Imam Muslim
that he (the Dajjal) is youthful (under 40 years old as some
commentators have explained).

The greatest distinguishing feature of the Dajjal is the word Kafir
(Disbeliever) embedded upon his forehead.

Al-Imam Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Khuzayimah, Ibn Majah and Al-Hakim report
the Hadeeth of Abi Ummaamah (RA) wherein he narrates that Rasool ul
Allah (SAAW) said:

“Verily, Allah ‘Azz wa Jal has not sent a Prophet to a people (except
that that Prophet would) warn his Ummah of the one-eyed liar. Know for
certain that he is one-eyed and that your Rabb is not one-eyed. (Know
that) surely, written between (upon his forehead) his eyes is (the word)
Kafir.”

In the narration of Imam Muslim he (SAAW) said:

“(Know that) surely, written between (upon his forehead) his eyes (are
the letters) Kaa faa Raa (spelling out the letters).”

In the narration of the others he (SAAW) said:

“(Know that) surely, written between (upon his forehead) his eyes is
(the word) Kafir. It will be read (apparent) to every believer whether
he (/she) can read or not.”

The preceding authentic hadeeth establish that the words on the forehead
are real and not figurative in meaning. They will be embedded on his
forehead and clearly displayed for all the BELIEVERS to read. Here it is
important to see that the Rasool (SAAW) mentions the believers and not
the Muslim Ummah in its entirety.

Imam an-Nawawi in his explanation of the hadeeth of Saheeh Muslim
discusses this in great detail and concludes that the word will be real
and apparent and set as a sign of guidance from Allah (SWT) to His
humble slaves.

Imam Muslim also reports that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“(The Dajjal) cannot procreate and will have no children fathered by
him.”

The Dajjal shall first appear in Kharasan (or what are now present day
Iran and the Persian region. This is reported with authenticity by
at-Tirmithi, Ibn Majah, al-Hakim, Ahmed and Sh. Al-Albani (rh) deems it
Saheeh.

What powers will Allah give the Dajjal as a Fitnah for Mankind?

Speed of Travel and Lands he will visit:

Bukhari and Muslim (RA) report on the authority of Anas (RA) that Rasool
ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“No country will not be visited by the Dajjal, except Makkah and
Medina.”

In the authentic hadeeth of Abi Ummaamah (RA) that is collected by Ibn
Khuzayimah, Ibn Majah and Al-Hakim we see that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW)
said:

“No place on earth will not be visited and conquered by the Dajjal,
except Makkah and Medina. Every time he approaches its limits an angel
with a drawn sword blocks his way.”

A Garden and a River of Fire:

The Dajjal shall have with him a garden that is seemingly everlasting
and beautiful and a river of Fire that is seemingly scorching.

In the hadeeth of Hudhaifah (RA), which is collected by Imam Muslim,
Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“Surely, I have more knowledge of that which the Dajjal possess, than he
knows of himself. He has two running rivers (that follow him). One of
them is seemingly fresh, clear (and cool) water. The other is outwardly
a river of smoldering fire. If any of you should find himself confronted
by them, then approach the one that appears to be fire. Close your eyes,
tilt your head and drink from it, for it is cool water.”

His control of the devils (shayateen):

In the hadeeth of Abi Ummaamah (RA) which is collected with authentic
chains of narration in the books of Ibn Khuzyimah, Ibn Majah, and
al-Hakim, Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“And from his (the Dajjal) Fitnah is that he will say to a simple man
(Bedouin), ‘If I was to resurrect your father and mother (from their
graves) would you testify that I am your Lord?’ The man shall reply,
‘Yes.’ Shayteen (devils) will take the form of his father and mother
saying to him, ‘O Son! Follow him, for he is your Lord!’

His ability to control inanimate objects and vegetation:

Imam Muslim reports that an-Nawaas bin Sam‘aan (RA) states that an-Nabi
(SAAW) said:

“He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and
they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then
give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and
it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their posturing animals would
come to them with their humps very high and their udders full of milk
and their flanks stretched.

He would then come to another people and invite them. But they would
reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for
them and nothing would be left with them in the form of wealth. He would
then walk through the waste, land and say to it: ‘Bring forth your
treasures, and the treasures would come out and collect (themselves)
before him like the swarm of male bees.’”

Murdering a man and bringing him back to life:

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him)
as saying:

“The Dajjal would come forth and a person from amongst the believers
would go towards him and the armed men of the Dajjal would meet him and
they would say to him: ‘Where do you intend to go?’

He would say: ‘I intend to go to this one who is coming forth.’ They
would say to him: ‘Don’t you believe in our Lord?’ He would say: ‘There
is nothing hidden about our Lord.’

They would say: ‘Kill him.’ Then some amongst them would say: ‘Has your
master (Dajjal) not forbidden you to kill anyone without (his consent)?’

And so they would take him to the Dajjal and when the believer would see
him, he would say: ‘O people. He is the Dajjal about whom Allah’s
Messenger (SAAW) has informed (us).’

The Dajjal would then order for breaking his head and utter (these
words): ‘Catch hold of him and break his head.’ He would be struck even
on his back and on his stomach. Then the Dajjal would ask him: ‘Don’t
you believe in me?’ He would say: ‘You are a false Maseeh.’

He would then order him to be torn (into pieces) with a saw from the
parting of his hair up to his legs. After that the Dajjal would walk
between the two pieces. He would then say to him: Stand, and he would
stand erect. He would then say to him: ‘Don’t you believe in me?’

And the person would say: ‘It has only added to my insight concerning
you (that you are really the Dajjal).’

He would then say: ‘O people, he would not behave with anyone amongst
people (in such a manner) after me.’ The Dajjal would try to catch hold
of him so that he should kill him (again). The space between his neck
and collarbone would be turned into copper and he would find no means to
kill him. So he would catch hold of him by his hand and feet and throw
him (into the air) and the people would think as if he had been thrown
in the Hell-Fire whereas he would be thrown in Paradise.

Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: He would be
the most eminent amongst persons in regard to martyrdom in the eye of
the Lord of the world.

Reported by Imam Muslim.

His length of reign upon the Earth:

Imam Muslim reports that an-Nawaas bin Sam‘aan (RA) states that an-Nabi
(SAAW) said:

“We said: ‘O Allah’s Messenger, how long would he stay on the earth?’ He
(SAAW) replied, ‘For forty days, one day like a year and one day like a
month and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like
your days.’

We said: ‘O Allah’s Messenger, would one day’s prayer suffice for the
prayers of day equal to one year?’

Thereupon he said: ‘No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then
observe prayer).’

This is quite significant in pointing out that the day will not seem
like a year. It will in fact be the length of a year. For further
discussion turn to an-Nawawi’s explanation of the hadeeth. Science has
shown that the earth’s rotation is slowing down. In fact science has
shown that the earth at one time rotated in the opposite direction. Thus
causing the sun to rise from the west and set in the east. This has been
shown in the magnetic recorders drilled and collected from the
mid-oceanic ridges around the world.

Who are his followers:

In the authentic hadeeth reported by Imam Ahmed, Rasool ul Allah (SAAW)
said,

“The majority of the Dajjal’s followers are the Jews and women.”

Imam Muslim reports that Anas bin Malik reported that Allah’s
Messenger (SAAW) said:

‘The Dajjal would be followed by seventy thousand
Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls.’

The Descent of ‘Issa (AS)

With all of this commotion taking place, Allah (SWT) shall send ‘Issa
(AS) to end the disturbance and tribulation. Allah (SWT) promised to
make ‘Issa (AS) a sign to mankind of His ability to Create and to make
‘Issa a sign depicting the nearness of the Day of Judgment. Allah (SWT)
says:

“And he (‘Issa) shall be a known sign for (the coming of the) Hour (the
Day of Judgment).” Az-Zukhruf 43:61

Imam Muslim reports that an-Nawaas bin Sam‘aan (RA) states that an-Nabi
(SAAW) said:

“At this very time (when the Dajjal murdered the youth) that Allah would
send al-Maseeh, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in
the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments lightly dyed with
saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he would
lower his head, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head,
and when he would raise it up, beads like pearls would scatter from it.
Every non-believer who would smell the odour of his self would die and
his breath would reach as far as he would be able to see. He would then
search for him (Dajjal) until he would catch hold of him at the gate of
Ludd (now known as the City of Ramallah. The gate is near the airport
entrance) and would kill him. Then a people whom Allah had protected
would come to Jesus, son of Mary, and he would wipe their faces and
would inform them of their ranks in Paradise.

Abi Dawoud reports with authentic chains of narration through the
transmission of Abi Huraira (Ra) that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“There is no prophet between me and ‘Issa. He shall surely descend (once
again). Therefore recognize him when you see him. He is a tall man with
a white and reddish complexion. He shall descend wearing two slightly
dyed garments. His head will appear to be perspiring but it has no
wetness upon it.”

In the authentic hadeeth of Abi Ummaamah (RA) that is collected by Ibn
Khuzayimah, Ibn Majah and Al-Hakim we see that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW)
said:

“Their (Muslim Ummah’s) Imam (leader of Muslim Army) shall be a
righteous man. As their Imam is readying to lead the morning (Fajr)
prayer, ‘Issa (AS) ibn Marium shall descend amongst them (in Damascus).
Their Imam shall seek to move back so that ‘Issa (AS) may lead the
prayer. ‘Issa shall place his hand between his (Imam’s) shoulder and
say: ‘Go forward and lead the prayer for it was called for you to lead.’

(‘Issa) shall then travel to Jerusalem (in pursuit of the Dajjal). He
(AS) shall enter and find the Muslim inhabitants under siege (by Dajjal
and Jews). He (AS) shall say to them, ‘Open the gates.’ They shall open
the gates and find al-Maseeh ad-Dajjal facing them accompanied with
seventy thousand Jews with their swords (weapons) drawn.

When the Dajjal sees him (AS) he shall begin to dissolve the way that
salt dissolves in water. He (Dajjal) shall flee seeking to escape, but
‘Issa shall catch up to him at the Gates of Ludd (City of Ramallah) and
shall kill him there.”

Life after the Descent of ‘Issa

The end of the Dajjal is not the end of Fitnah. Rather there soon exits
upon humanity a nation of murderous hordes. They out way humanity with
the ratio of 999 to every one whom believed.

Imam Muslim reports that an-Nawaas bin Sam‘aan (RA) states that an-Nabi
(SAAW) said:

“And it would be under such conditions (after death of Dajjal) that
Allah would reveal to Jesus these words: ‘I have brought forth from
amongst My servants such people against whom none would be able to
fight; you take these people (believers) safely to (the Mount) Tur.’

And then Allah would send Gog and Magog and they would swarm down from
every slope. The first of them would pass the lake of Tibrus (or what is
called the Sea of Galilee in present-day Palestine) and drink out of it.
And when the last of them would pass, he would say: ‘There was once
water there.’

Jesus and his companions would then be besieged here (at Tur, and they
would be so much hard pressed) that the head of the ox would be dearer
to them than one hundred dinar.

And Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would supplicate Allah,
Who would send upon them (Ya’jooj wa Ma’jooj) insects (which would
attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish like one single
person. Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then come down
to the earth and they would not find in the earth as much space as a
single span which is not filled with their putrefaction and stench.
Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then again beseech
Allah, Who would send birds whose necks would be like those of camels
and they would carry them and throw them where God would will. Then
Allah would send rain which no house of clay or (the tent of) camels’
hairs would keep out and it would wash away the earth until it could
appear to be a mirror.

Then the earth would be told to bring forth its fruit and restore its
blessing and, as a result thereof, there would grow (such a big)
pomegranate that a group of persons would be able to eat that, and seek
shelter under its skin.

A cow would give so much milk that a whole party would be able to drink
it. And the camel would give such (a large quantity of) milk that the
whole tribe would be able to drink out of that.

And the sheep would give so much milks that the whole family would be
able to drink out of that.

At that time, Allah would send a pleasant wind, which would soothe
(people), even under their armpits, and would take the life of every
Muslim and only the wicked would survive who would commit adultery like
asses and the Last Hour would come to them.”

In an authentic hadeeth reported by Ad-Dailamee and deemed authentic by
Sh. Al-Albani (rh), Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“A good life it will be after (the descent of) al-Maseeh (‘Issa). The
sky will be given leave to rain down, and the earth shall be given leave
to grow vegetation. (During that time) if you were to place a seed upon
solid rock it would take root. (During that time) a man will pass by a
lion and it will not harm him. (During that time) a man will
(accidentally) step on or near a snake and it will not strike him.”

Abu Dawoud reporters in an authentic hadeeth that is authenticated by
Sh. Al-Albani (rh) that Rasool ul Allah (SAAW) said:

“(‘Issa) shall remain (with the believers as their leader) for forty
years. He will then pass away and the believers will pray on him
(Janazah).”

In other authentic narrations it is shown that ‘Issa will perform Hajj
and wed and procreate before his death.

This is the truth with certainty. During the past four discussions we
have expounded upon the basic knowledge that Muslims may already have
with regards to the past and future existence of ‘Issa (AS). We covered
the four main issues regarding ‘Issa bin Marium (AS) that we as Muslims
must have knowledge of:

  • The Muslim Nation is more Worthy of ‘Issa than all the other

I ask Allah to free our words and deeds from Riyaa’ and to open our
hearts to the truth.
