Alliance and Enmity

"Indeed alliance, and separation must be made for Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic - for whoever loves for Allaah's Sake, hates for Allaah's Sake, makes an alliance for Allaah's Sake and separates for Allaah's sake, has indeed traversed the path by which he will attain the wilaayah [close friendship] of Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic.

As for the one whose alliance, separation, love and hate is based on his desires and [impermissible] blind following, he has indeed been deprived of a lot of good. Maybe he has fallen into a severe matter for he could show enmity to a friend of Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic - and therefore makes war with Allaah, as is in the authentic hadeeth qudsee which was narrated by Bukhaaree upon the authority of Aboo Hurayrah - radi Allaahu 'anhu - that the Messenger SAW said: "Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic - said:

'Whoever shows enmity to a friend of mine I have declared war against him.'

Perhaps he shows love and alliance to an enemy of Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic. So he falls into great danger, as Allaah - the Exalted - says:

"You will not find a people believing in Allaah and the Last Day making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers, sons, brothers, or kindred." [Soorah Mujaadalah (58):22] "O you who believe! Do not take My enemies and your enemies as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of truth." [Soorah Mumtahanah (60):1] "O you who believe! Do not take as friends the people who incurred the Wrath of Allaah." [Soorah Mumtahanah (60):13]."
